Decisive Moments

Henri Cartier-Bresson's The Decisive Moment (1952) was a monumental exhibition and book depicting his photographs and portraying his own conception of the photojournalistic process.

According to C-Bresson, the decisive moment is

"...the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as the precise organization of forms which gives that event its proper expression."

In the world of information systems, software & standards, we are all too conscious of Tipping Points (originally from Gladwell). I believe this comes from a distracting and unhealthy self-definition in contrast to a suboptimal status quo. More healthy would be a positive self-definition on the terms & conditions of the desired outcome.

Then, we are not reliant upon a decisive moment that is outside our power to cultivate.
